5.3.2020 | On an order issued by the Defence Command, the Defence Forces has taken measures to contain the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.

19.12.2024 | The Defence Forces and the Traficom’s National Cyber Security Centre have established a multi-sector ISAC information sharing group (MIL-ISAC) which focuses on Defence system operations . The MIL-ISAC information sharing group has representatives from various enterprises that somehow contribute to the Finnish defence system. The MIL-ISAC group is starting off by forming a situational picture and sharing information among the group members.

17.5.2022 | Hedgehog 22 held in Estonia will be participated by the Army with up to circa 240 personnel led by the Pori Brigade. The training audience detachment to the exercise in Southern Estonia will comprise mainly reservists trained for the Finnish Rapid Deployment Force (FRDF) who have already began their preparation phase in Säkylä.

8.2.2022 | The Heritage Anniversary of the Artillery School is celebrated on 7 February. This February, the Artillery School celebrated its Heritage Anniversary on a small scale in the absence of guests as a precautionary measure due to the pandemic. 4.3.2022 | The Finnish Defence Forces will participate in the winter exercise Cold Response 2022 organised by the Norwegian Armed Forces in the area of Narvik–Bardufoss in Northern Norway from 18 March to 2 April 2022. Participation in the exercise will develop national defence capability, bilateral cooperation with Norway as well as defence cooperation with Sweden.  

7.5.2021 | Karelia Air Command will host a squadron-level visit of United States Marine Corps (USMC) F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighters and KC-130 tanker and transport aircraft at Rissala Air Base from 2 to 20 June 2021.

10.5.2021 | Part of the Finnish Defence Forces’ main exercise, the exercise Northern Forest 21 is the most important military exercise of the Army this year.

4.3.2021 | The voluntary military service for women attracted a record high number of applicants as altogether 1,675 women applied to voluntary military service. In the future, applying to service becomes even easier with the E-Service available online.

9.5.2016 | Finnish authorities will be honing their interoperability skills for the eventuality of extensive cyber disruptions in this year’s national cyber exercise, KYHA16, 16- 19 May. The exercise is organised by the Finnish Ministry of Finance with the support of the Finnish Defence Forces C5 Agency.
