Finland will conduct a confidence-and-security-building inspection conform to the Vienna Document 2011 to Russia from 17 to 20 January 2017.

The area being inspected is located east of Moscow and includes approximately five Russian military units and the Mulino training centre along with training areas.

The inspection team consists of three Finnish and one Canadian officer. The inspection team will be led by Colonel Martti J. Kari.

The goal of the inspection is to verify the information about the inspection area that Russia has supplied to the OSCE countries. The aim of the inspection is to establish that there are no such ongoing military activities in the area designated for inspection that according to the Vienna Document should have been made prior notification of.
