The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola, participated in the meetings of NATO and the European Union's defence committees in Brussels on 14-15 May 2025. The chiefs of defence of EU and NATO countries were present at the meetings.

On Thursday, 15 May, the themes for the meeting of the European Union Military Committee were the development of European security and defence as well as crisis management operations. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger.
