The Finnish Defence Forces will shift to using the NATO-standard calibres 5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm, 9x19mm, and 12.7x99mm for new small arms. The decision taken will improve, among other, the soldier’s operating capability, interoperability, and security of supply.

25.5.2020 | The Defence Forces Logistics Command and Sako Ltd have signed a letter of intent regarding research and development of a family of rifles and preparation of the procurement of a rifle system. The rifle system is intended to consist of two different system configurations including a sniper rifle for sniper use and a semi- automatic rifle for the squad’s designated marksman.

14.11.2024 | The Guard Battalion, a sub-unit of the Guard Jaeger Regiment, will organize the combat exercise Uusimaa 24 in the areas of Porvoo, Sipoo, Tuusula and Helsinki on 20-26 November 2024. The exercise will be led by Commander of the Guard Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Jouni Suokas.
