The theme of the parade is We defend Finland together. The review of troops will take place at Kouvola Finnish baseball stadium, and the pass in review on Salpausselänkatu. The Finnish Defence Forces’ and other agencies’ equipment and activity will be available for familiarisation at Sumulaakso. The events are free of charge.

In 2018 Finnish Air Force celebrates its 100th anniversary. During the centennial the aircraft of the service will be performing flying and static displays in numerous public events in Finland and abroad.

On 6 March 2018, it will be 100 years since the founding of the Finnish Air Force. The centennial will be celebrated in a number of events taking place around Finland on the weeks beginning 26 February and 5 March.

In February 2018 it will be 100 years since the foundation of the Field Artillery of Independent Finland and the Artillery School. The Finnish Defence Forces honour their 100th anniversary with an artillery equipment display in Helsinki on 9 February.

26.8.2025 | The 109th Cadet Course and the 92st Midshipman Course graduate from the Bachelor of Military Sciences programme on 29 August 2025. The Supreme Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, President of the Republic Alexander Stubb will promote the 173 graduates to the rank of Lieutenant in the Presidential Palace's Hall of State. The graduation day with its traditional ceremonies will be a memorable event for the young officers.

Apart from the review of troops and the pass-in-review, the programme will feature an equipment display and flight display routines as well as the Finnish Defence Forces 100 Summer Tour 2018 concert. The events are free of charge.

Finland celebrates the 100th anniversary of its independence on Wednesday 6 December 2017. On the occasion of the anniversary Finnish Air Force aircraft perform several flypasts to traditional wreath laying ceremonies taking place on military cemeteries around the country. The execution of the flypasts depends on the current weather conditions during the events.

Undertaking military training in Germany from 1915 to 1918, the Jaegers built up the foundation for the establishing of the contemporary Finnish Defence Forces, and, in significant numbers, equalled the officers who served in command duties during the Winter and Continuation Wars as well as the Lapland War. The Finnish Defence Forces celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Homecoming of the Jaegers in Vaasa from 23 February to 24 February 2018, and in Helsinki on Monday 26 February 2018.

8.5.2025 | On Commemoration Day of Fallen Soldiers on Sunday 18 May, a national military funeral with full honours will be held in Lappeenranta for 26 unidentified Finnish soldiers recovered from former battle sites in Russia. The event will be arranged in co-operation by the Finnish Defence Forces, City of Lappeenranta, Evangelical Lutheran Parishes’ Union in Lappeenranta, and Association for Commemoration of the Fallen.

The National Parade of the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces will be held in Hanko on 4 June 2024. In addition to a review of troops and pass in review, the programme also includes an equipment display, boat rides, an aerobatic air display and a MILjazz Tour concert, among other things. Admission to the events is free.

At the conferment ceremony, 23 doctors of military sciences graduating after 2018 and 5 Honorary Doctors were conferred. Conferment grants them the right to use the doctoral hat and sword.

28.5.2019 | The Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces will begin with a wreath laying ceremony at the Winter War and Continuation War Memorial.
