The theme of the parade is We defend Finland together. The review of troops will take place at Kouvola Finnish baseball stadium, and the pass in review on Salpausselänkatu. The Finnish Defence Forces’ and other agencies’ equipment and activity will be available for familiarisation at Sumulaakso. The events are free of charge.

30.7.2019 | The handover ceremony of the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces will take place in Santahamina, Helsinki, on Wednesday 31 July. The new Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Timo Kivinen, will assume his new task on 1 August 2019. His promotion to general will also take effect on 1 August.

30.1.2018 | In February 2018 it will be 100 years since the foundation of the Field Artillery of Independent Finland and the Artillery School. The Finnish Defence Forces honour their 100th anniversary with an artillery equipment display in Helsinki on 9 February.

The Supreme Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, President of the Republic Alexander Stubb will promote the 173 graduates to the rank of Lieutenant in the Presidential Palace's Hall of State. The graduation day with its traditional ceremonies will be a memorable event for the young officers.

Apart from the review of troops and the pass-in-review, the programme will feature an equipment display and flight display routines as well as the Finnish Defence Forces 100 Summer Tour 2018 concert. The events are free of charge.

The National Parade of the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces will be held in Hanko on 4 June 2024. In addition to a review of troops and pass in review, the programme also includes an equipment display, boat rides, an aerobatic air display and a MILjazz Tour concert, among other things. Admission to the events is free.

8.5.2025 | On Commemoration Day of Fallen Soldiers on Sunday 18 May, a national military funeral with full honours will be held in Lappeenranta for 26 unidentified Finnish soldiers recovered from former battle sites in Russia. The event will be arranged in co-operation by the Finnish Defence Forces, City of Lappeenranta, Evangelical Lutheran Parishes’ Union in Lappeenranta, and Association for Commemoration of the Fallen.

3.10.2025 | The third National Defence University conferment ceremony was held in Helsinki between 18 and 20 September 2025. At the conferment ceremony, 23 doctors of military sciences graduating after 2018 and 5 Honorary Doctors were conferred. Conferment grants them the right to use the doctoral hat and sword.

29.4.2025 | The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, visited the United States at the end of April. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the United States Army, General Randy George. The official visit included military honours and the laying of a wreath at the Arlington Military Cemetery.
