The Finnish, French and Swedish navies will rehearse countering subsurface threats off the Swedish west coast from 13 to 20 March 2024. The Coastal Fleet will participate in the Marex Spring 24 exercise with Hamina-class missile boat Pori. In addition, two Finnish officers will be deployed on board Swedish corvettes for the duration of the exercise.

Coastal Fleet consists of Headquarters and four squadrons: 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron, 6th and 7th Surface Warfare Squadrons and 8th Service Support Squadron. Bases are situated in Turku and Kirkkonummi but the battleships operate around all Finnish territorial waters.

24.2.2026 | Hull assembly of the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette being built for the Finnish Navy was completed at the turn of the year at the Rauma shipyard. The vessel has received its grey protective coating, and part of the protective covering has been removed.

Finland is honored to receive an international Ally for a port visit. The United States Navy’s guided-missile cruiser, USS Normandy, will moor at Hernesaari port in Helsinki on September 19, 2024. The vessel will not be open to the public.

9.5.2025 | The keel of the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette, part of the Squadron 2020 programme, was laid at Rauma shipyard on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The keel laying ceremony is a traditional and symbolically significant milestone in shipbuilding, marking the official start of hull assembly.
