Coastal Fleet consists of Headquarters and four squadrons: 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron, 6th and 7th Surface Warfare Squadrons and 8th Service Support Squadron. Bases are situated in Turku and Kirkkonummi but the battleships operate around all Finnish territorial waters.

22.4.2022 | This week, the Finnish and Swedish Navies conducted a joint anti-submarine warfare exercise in the Gulf of Finland.  Hamina-class fast-attack craft Hamina and Tornio, multi-purpose vessel Louhi and a patrol boat of the Border Guard took part in the exercise.  Sweden sent Gotland-class submarine HSWMS Uppland to the exercise.  

13.4.2021 | Two Hamina-class fast-attack craft of the Finnish Navy will take part in the annual anti-submarine warfare exercise organised by the Swedish Navy 15-20 April 2021 off the east coast of Sweden.

24.2.2026 | Hull assembly of the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette being built for the Finnish Navy was completed at the turn of the year at the Rauma shipyard. The vessel has received its grey protective coating, and part of the protective covering has been removed.

11.4.2018 | Vessels from the Finnish Navy will participate in an exercise arranged by the Swedish Navy from 11.4 to 19.4.2018 in the archipelago of Stockholm.

14.9.2025 | Finland is honored to receive an Ally for a port visit. United States Navy’s Aegis guided-missile destroyer, USS Bainbridge, will moor at Hernesaari port in Helsinki on Sept 14 2025. The vessel will not be open to the public during this routine call.

9.5.2025 | The keel of the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette, part of the Squadron 2020 programme, was laid at Rauma shipyard on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The keel laying ceremony is a traditional and symbolically significant milestone in shipbuilding, marking the official start of hull assembly.

2.11.2024 | Finland is honored to receive an international Ally for a port visit. The United States Navy’s guided-missile cruiser, USS Gettysburg, will berth at Hernesaari Port in Helsinki from 2 to 6 November 2024. The vessel will not be open to the public.

4.4.2022 | Two Hamina-class fast-attack craft of the Finnish Navy will take part in the Marinens vårövning exercise organised by the Swedish Navy 4-8 April 2022 off the east coast of Sweden.

28.8.2019 | The exercise Northern Coasts 2019 (NOCO19) will be conducted between 2 September and 18 September 2019 in the sea areas of Denmark and Germany. The exercise is the German navy´s international invitation exercise for NATO and EU countries, as well as for NATO partner nations. The exercise is led by Germany.

20.9.2019 | Exercise Northern Coasts 2019 has ended. This multinational exercise strengthened the cooperation amongst the participating navies from the Baltic Sea region. For the Finnish Navy this exercise offered a good opportunity to develop readiness and capabilities as well as to deepen the existing solid FISE-cooperation.

17.10.2018 | Northern Coasts 18 (NOCO18) led by the Finnish Navy, will take place in Finland from 25 October to 8 November 2018. About 4.000 persons and dozens of surface vessels and aircraft will participate in the exercise.

24.8.2017 | The exercise Northern Coasts (NOCO-17) will be arranged between 8 September and 21 September 2017 in Sweden. The exercise is the German navy´s international invitation exercise for NATO and EU countries, as well as for NATO partner nations. The exercise is led by Sweden and there will be 16 participating countries.

20.11.2017 | During the Finnish Defence Forces Main Exercise (Uusimaa 17) the Navy will train its core tasks in cooperation with the Army and the Air Force. The tasks of the Navy are to prevent unauthorized use of the maritime territory and to repel attacks from the sea together with the other services.

28.4.2017 | The Finnish Defence Forces' Logistics Command and Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) have concluded a design contract with a view to design four multirole corvettes for the Squadron 2020 project. 8.5.2017 | MTH-17 Lyydia is an exercise arranged annually by the Finnish Navy for its naval and coastal units. The exercise will be held in the Gulf of Finland from 22 May to 1 June 2017.
