25.11.2025 | The Kainuu Brigade's Northern Axe 25 combat exercise will be conducted in the Kainuu region from November 29 to December 5, 2025.

12.2.2026 | The local defence exercise ”Karelian Stone 26” will be held in areas of Lappeenranta, Taipalsaari, Savitaipale, and Imatra during 2–6 March 2026.

25.11.2025 | The Kainuu Brigade's Northern Axe 25 combat exercise will be conducted in the Kainuu region from November 29 to December 5, 2025.

The Defence Forces’ main exercise Uusimaa will be held in southern Finland from 27 November to 4 December 2017. The objective is to train defending the capital city area and coast in a rapidly escalating situation together with the other authorities.

12.2.2026 | The local defence exercise ”Karelian Stone 26” will be held in areas of Lappeenranta, Taipalsaari, Savitaipale, and Imatra during 2–6 March 2026.

Exercise Atrain 23, led by the Coastal Brigade, will be held 26 May - 2 June 2023. The exercise activities will concentrate on the coast of the Gulf of Finland and the sea areas between the Hanko Peninsula and Hamina.

Altogether five local defence training exercises led by Finnish Army brigade-level units will be organised in the regions of Kymenlaakso, Lapland, Northern Savonia, Ostrobothnia, Satakunta and Uusimaa from 26 February to 9 March 2018. These exercises will contribute to facilitating the inter-agency cooperation capability of the security authorities as part of a rapidly developing situation framework.

Mechanised units sport demanding training objectives. One of these involves cooperating with an international training exercise detachment. Overall, international training exercise cooperation results in significant benefits affecting competence proficiency both at the level of individual soldiers and that of the training exercise troops.

In Finland, the exercise activity will focus on the Finnish Defence Forces’ exercise area at Rovajärvi but forces will be on the move across northern Finland.

A national training exercise, the Air Defence Exercise 1/18 will be organised in the Lohtaja firing and military training area from 15 to 24 May 2018 and led by Inspector of Air Defence, Colonel Sami-Antti Takamaa.
