Chair of the Military Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) to visit Finland

Chair of the Military Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), Admiral Rob Bauer will visit Finland on 16–18 June 2022. Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen will host the visit.

During the visit, Admiral Bauer will discuss with CHOD, General Timo Kivinen, and meet President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö, as well as Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto. The programme for the visit will also include visits to the Finnish Navy and to the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE).

Responsible for NATO’s highest-level military decision-making, the Military Committee (MC) prepares military advice for the decision-making process in the North Atlantic Council and the Nuclear Planning Group and gives direction to the two Strategic Commanders. The Committee meets frequently at the level of permanent Military Representatives, and three times a year at the level of Chiefs of Defence. The Chair of the Military Committee of NATO is the most senior military spokesperson for the Alliance.
