Finland participates in Swiss-led inspection in Russia
Switzerland is leading a multinational inspection in Russia in accordance with the OSCE Vienna Treaty 2011 on Trust and Security from 19 to 21 May 2021. The inspection team includes a Finnish officer.
The area ordered inspection is close to Voronez and includes several troop units and associated training areas.
The purpose of the inspection is to verify that, in the area ordered inspection, there is no military activity which, in accordance with the Vienna Treaty, should have been notified in advance. Inspection activities are part of normal gun control. Similar inspections are carried out in Finland a few times a year and Finland carry out similar inspections in other Member States.
