The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is a regional security organisation with 57 participating states.

17.4.2026 | As a member of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Finland has ratified the Vienna Document 2011 (VD11), which is one of the effective arms control agreements. Pursuant to this document, Finland arranged 14th to 17th of April for the OSCE member states a visit to the bases of the Karelian Air Command and the Karelia Brigade.

Finland is party to several agreements and arrangements concerning conventional arms control, such as The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), The Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), and The Ottawa Treaty.

22.2.2023 | In accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, Denmark conducts an evaluation visit to the Lapland Air Command 22 February 2023. The members of the evaluation team have diplomatic status.

2.2.2022 | In accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, Canada is leading a multinational evaluation visit to the Karelia Air Command 1 - 3 February 2022. The evaluation team also includes a person from the Czech Republic and the members of the group have diplomatic status.

25.11.2021 | Finland will host a base visit in accordance with the Vienna Document (VD11) of the Jaegerbrigade and Lapland Air Command on 22-26 November 2021. The army's latest equipment was presented at an operations show in Rovajärvi on 25 November.

7.12.2021 | Portugal, in accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, conducts an inspection for increased trust and security in Finland from 6 to 9 December 2021. The members of the inspection team have diplomatic status.

18.9.2019 | The Finnish Defence Forces International Centre’s Integrated Crisis Management Course (ICM) is organised together with Crisis Management Centre Finland CMC Finland. The course aims to increase awareness and understanding of comprehensive crisis management approaches and to improve cooperation between different actors. We met with three teachers from the course. Their interviews will be published during September.

17.11.2021 | Belgium, in accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, conducts an inspection for increased trust and security in Finland from 16 to 19 November 2021. The members of the inspection team have diplomatic status.

1.9.2021 | In accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, Russia is carrying out an inspection to increase confidence and security during an evaluation visit to the Karelia Air Command on 1 September 2021. The evaluation team consists of three people and they have diplomatic status.

19.5.2021 | Switzerland is leading a multinational inspection in Russia in accordance with the OSCE Vienna Treaty 2011 on Trust and Security from 19 to 21 May 2021. The inspection team includes a Finnish officer.

28.4.2021 | In accordance with the OSCE Vienna Document 2011, Russia is carrying out an inspection to increase trust and safety during an evaluation visit to the Lapland Air Command on 28 April 2021. The evaluation team consists of three people and they have diplomatic status.
