The theme of the parade is We defend Finland together. The review of troops will take place at Kouvola Finnish baseball stadium, and the pass in review on Salpausselänkatu. The Finnish Defence Forces’ and other agencies’ equipment and activity will be available for familiarisation at Sumulaakso. The events are free of charge.

28.10.2025 | The campaign for increasing physical activity launched by President of the Republic Alexander Stubb received nationally extensive coverage and positive visibility. As such, the physical activity programme provides a tool for physical preparedness also for the upcoming contingents. Now is again an excellent time to take up the programme as it is about 12 weeks until the next contingent is to enter into service.

14.4.2025 | President of the Republic Alexander Stubb will be part of a campaign for increasing physical activity that aims to encourage young people to get moving and improve their physical condition before start of the conscript service part of the liability for military service. The physical activity programme of Commander-in-Chief will start on Monday 14 April to peak at service start on 7 July.

2.5.2024 | Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen and Governor of Virginia Glen Youngkin signed a Letter of Intent on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Virginia National Guard relating to the accession on 2 May 2024. The Letter of Intent provides for a start of co-operation between the Finnish Defence Forces and the Virginia National Guard.

31.1.2024 | On 31 January 2024 the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö has appointed Lieutenant General Janne Jaakkola as the next Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces as of 1 April 2024 for a term on 1 April 2024 – 31 March 2029. The current Commander of the Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, will retire and transfer into the reserve on 31 March 2024.

4.12.2023 | The Finnish Defence Forces trains in undersea infrastructure protection together with the Finnish Border Guard, the United Kingdom and Estonia in the Baltic Sea region 4–5 December 2023. The aim of the exercise is to develop the capability for the surveillance and protection of undersea infrastructure and to repel undersea military threats.

8.2.2023 | The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, will participate in the Chiefs' of Defence Meeting of the Nordic and Baltic Countries 8 - 9 February 2023 in Tallinn.
