MILjazz 2024 – Finnish Defence Forces' Summer Tour Program Released

MILjazz 2024 Offers a Variety of Activities Across Finland

The Finnish Defence Forces' MILjazz tour kicks off next week, bringing summer along with it! This outdoor event, designed to uplift spirits, will be held in eight different locations, starting on May 31st in Turku. The event offers something for everyone, from blues to pop and rock to soul. The concert segment begins at 6:00 PM and continues until 9:30 PM.

First up for entertainment in Turku and Hanko is the Navy Band with vocalist Irina. In Tampere, Helsinki, and Lahti, the evening will be started by Jukka Eskola & Teppo Mäkynen and the Guards' Rhythm Machine. In Lappeenranta and Jyväskylä, the Dragoon Band with vocalist Ilta will be the first to perform, and in Rovaniemi, the Lapland Military Band in a Big Band setup will open the event. After the first performer, the program will continue the same at all locations.

The second act on stage will be the Air Force Big Band, entertaining the MILjazz audience with the versatile Sami Pitkämö as the soloist. The Conscript Band's Showband will conclude the evening with a surprising and energetic performance full of emotion. The event will be hosted by Markus Virtala.

In addition to music, the events will offer opportunities to learn about conscript service and voluntary military service for women. Exhibitions organized by military units will showcase the modern equipment of the Defence Forces. The Canteen will serve visitors, and with the visitor survey, you can influence the programs of future tours.

The MILjazz 2024 tour will continue from Turku to Hanko on June 4th, where the event will be part of the Defence Forces' Flag Day celebrations.
