Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen will attend the European Union Military Committee meeting on 19 May.

At its meeting, the Military Committee will discuss current issues relating to European defence. The chairman of the Military Committee will also be elected for the next three-year term. The EU's top military command has been invited to the meeting.

The Chiefs of Defence of EU countries normally meet twice a year for a meeting of the Military Committee. The last physical meeting at this level took place in November 2019.

During his trip, General Kivinen will also meet Finland's Ambassadors to the EU and NATO. Major General Mikko Heiskanen, who is Finland’s military representative to the European Union, and Major Annukka Ylivaara, Adjutant of the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, will also attend the meetings.
