On 1 July 2025, it is 100 years since the beginning of ground-based air defence training in Finland. The Defence Forces honours the 100 year-old ground-based air defence branch by organising the Ground-Based Air Defence 100 Years event in Helsinki on 1 July. Admission to the event is free.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Välimäki familiarised with air defence systems of the Italian Army at the Anti-aircraft Artillery Command Sabaudia, and was briefed by the 17th Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment "Sforzesca" on the most recent technological developments concerning, among other, CUAS.

5.3.2022 | The ongoing development project for building ground-based air defence high-altitude capa-bility will continue by negotiations with two manufacturers. Apart from building enhanced high-altitude capability for ground-based air defence, the procurement project will also result in increased GBAD areal coverage.

5.4.2023 | The new system selected for building high-altitude capability for ground-based air defence will be David´s Sling Weapon System. Through the new system, GBAD high-altitude capability will be enhanced and its areal coverage increased.

9.5.2018 | A national training exercise, the Air Defence Exercise 1/18 will be organised in the Lohtaja firing and military training area from 15 to 24 May 2018 and led by Inspector of Air Defence, Colonel Sami-Antti Takamaa.
