18.4.2019 | Kati Parppei is the second main speaker of the Russia Seminar, which is held in Santahamina on 25 April 2019. Kati Parppei holds the title of Docent in Russian History in the University of Eastern Finland, and the focus of her research is using historical narratives in building a nation and how to ground its policies. Her main topic for the seminar audience talks about the role of history in Russia’s current national narrative.

20.9.2022 | The yearly Command and Control Interoperability Board (CCIB) meeting between Finland and the United States was held in the Armoured Brigade from 12th to the 16th of September 2022. The Armoured Brigade hosted the board meeting in its facilities.

17.9.2019 | Representatives from all Finnish universities gathered in Santahamina in early September for a workshop on sustainability and responsibility. The event was organised by the sustainable development working group of Universities Finland (UNIFI). You can check out the hashtag #kekebootcamp to get into the mood of the exercise.

13.1.2021 | Russia Seminar 2021 of the series of seminars that have already become a tradition will be held at the National Defence University on 26 January 2021 and 2 February 2021. Unlike previous seminars, this one will be held as a completely virtual event due to the prevailing coronavirus situation. The seminar discusses Russian military policy and the research development in that field.

2.10.2019 | The Finnish National Defence University will organise the annual Russia Seminar on 2 April 2020. The call for papers now welcomes abstracts for presentations relating to the seminar’s themes.

10.3.2026 | Maanpuolustuskorkeakoulu ja Suomen Sotatieteellinen Seura ry järjestävät sotatieteiden päivät 4.-5. marraskuuta. Vuoden 2026 Sotatieteiden päivien teema Maailmanjärjestys muutoksessa – mihin sotatieteiden tulisi kiinnittää huomiota juuri nyt? on keskustelunavaus ajankohtaisista sotatieteellisistä ja sotatieteitä lähellä olevista ilmiöistä ja teemoista tutkimuksen, opetuksen sekä upseerin käytännön ammatinharjoittamisen näkökulmista.

18.5.2018 | The Commander of the Finnish Navy, Vice Admiral Veijo Taipalus, hosts the yearly Chiefs of European Navies, CHENS conference in Helsinki from 17 to 18 May 2018. Finland is the current CHENS chairman.

16.10.2019 | The Anniversary Seminar of the Finnish Defence Forces International Centre, FINCENT, will be held on 23 October. The theme of the Seminar involves the future of crisis management and preparation for its challenges through education and training. Lieutenant General (ret.), Roméo Dallaire will be the Seminar’s principal keynote speaker. The Seminar will be streamed online on our website.

8.10.2019 | The Finnish Defence Forces International Centre, FINCENT, celebrates its 50th anniversary. The theme of this Anniversary Seminar is “How to Respond to Crisis Management Challenges in the Future Through Education and Training? A world-renowned crisis management veteran, Lieutenant General the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret'd), will give a keynote speech at this special seminar.

18.10.2019 | The Finnish Defence Forces International Centre’s 50th Anniversary Seminar on 23 October will be attended by four top international crisis management experts. The NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative Clare Hutchinson’s field of expertise consists in the promotion of the dimension of women, peace and security, including the coordination, consistency and implementation of the measures involving this entity in NATO.

21.9.2018 | Colonel (retired) Hannu Liimatta’s dissertation in the field of military history titled Ulkomaisista esikuvista kohti omaperäisempiä ratkaisuja – Itsenäisen Suomen jalkaväkitaktiikan kehittämisen neljä ensimmäistä vuosikymmentä (From foreign models to individual solutions – the first forty years of infantry tactics development in an independent Finland will be held in the National Defence University in Santahamina on 22 October 2018 at 12.00.

8.2.2019 | The National Defence University's Russia Seminar will be organised in the Santahamina Building on 25 April 2019. The seminar is open to the public. The seminar discusses Russian security policy and the research development in that field. The National Defence University organises the seminar in cooperation with the University of Helsinki and the Hybrid Centre of Excellence. The Mannerheim Foundation has granted financial support that enables the organising of the seminar.

10.4.2025 | Suomi järjesti Nordefcon vuosittaisen Pohjoismaiden puolustusvoimien komentajien kokouksen Norfolkissa Virginiassa yhteisoperaatiojohtoportaan esikunnassa (Joint Forces Command) 9.–10. huhtikuuta 2025.
