30.10.2025 | The Finnish Defence Forces has released a new data and AI strategy designed to guide the organisation towards data-centric command and control and strengthened information and knowledge management. Beginning in 2025, the FDF will cooperate with NestAI to accelerate the development of AI capabilities. Working with leading companies will also help build the ecosystem for the FDF AI Centre of Excellence, which is planned to be operational at the start of 2026.

As a representative of the lead nation, the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command has signed a contract in 25.6. with the Finnish company Forcit, on procuring the Blocker Influence Mine for the participating countries. So far Finland, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania and Norway have joined the project.

20.2.2026 | Technological upheaval, threat scenarios in the military operational environment and recent war experiences have created a need to develop and coordinate the Defence Forces' innovation activities. This need has been addressed by gradually starting a coordinated Defence Forces innovation service from the beginning of 2026. The Defence Forces innovation unit will be established under the Finnish Defence Research Agency as part of the innovation activities.
