25.9.2024 | The 80th anniversary of the Finnish Defence Forces auctions will be celebrated in Tampere on 9-10 October in conjunction with the autumn auction of SA Kauppa . The two-day auction will feature around 550 items of decommissioned Defence Forces material. All items to be auctioned will be sold marked as scrap. The material to be sold is no longer suitable for military use due to its condition or other reasons.

16.10.2019 | The Anniversary Seminar of the Finnish Defence Forces International Centre, FINCENT, will be held on 23 October. The theme of the Seminar involves the future of crisis management and preparation for its challenges through education and training. Lieutenant General (ret.), Roméo Dallaire will be the Seminar’s principal keynote speaker. The Seminar will be streamed online on our website.

1.3.2020 | On 1 March 2020, it will be exactly 30 years since the Conscript Band’s first contingent entered into military service. But it was, in fact, 1987 that set in motion the establishment of the Conscript Band on the order of the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces. To celebrate the Anniversary, the Conscript Band wishes to express its thanks to all the actors having been involved, the celebration leading up to a 30th Anniversary Concert Tour, heading, as always, towards new ambitious goals.

28.6.2016 | This year it will be 100 years since the combat engineer company of the Royal Prussian Jaeger Battalion 27 successfully fought in the Battle of Schmarden. The Finnish Defence Forces will honour the 100th anniversary of the battle by organising an unveiling of a memorial at the original location of the battle in the village of Schmarden in Latvia on 25 July 2016.

11.1.2019 | The National Defence University celebrated its anniversary in Santahamina on Friday, 11 January 2019. The anniversary in January traces its roots to the establishment of the National Defence University on 14 January 1993.

The theme of this Anniversary Seminar is “How to Respond to Crisis Management Challenges in the Future Through Education and Training? A world-renowned crisis management veteran, Lieutenant General the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret'd), will give a keynote speech at this special seminar.

21.2.2018 | In 2018, Estonia celebrates the 100th anniversary of its independence. Estonian Chief of Defence, General Riho Terras has invited the Finnish Defence Forces to participate in the Independence Day Parade of Estonia on 24 February 2018.

1.3.2018 | On 6 March 2018, it will be 100 years since the founding of the Finnish Air Force. The centennial will be celebrated in a number of events taking place around Finland on the weeks beginning 26 February and 5 March.

5.12.2017 | Finland celebrates the 100th anniversary of its independence on Wednesday 6 December 2017. On the occasion of the anniversary Finnish Air Force aircraft perform several flypasts to traditional wreath laying ceremonies taking place on military cemeteries around the country. The execution of the flypasts depends on the current weather conditions during the events.
