The commander of The Bundeswehr Joint Force Command, Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, along with a delegation, visited Finland on 7-8 May 2026. The host of the visit was the Finnish Defence Forces Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Lieutenant General Kari Nisula.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Sollfrank familiarised himself with Finland's defence system and discussed cooperation between the Finnish Defence Forces and the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). In addition, he visited the Utti Jaeger Regiment and the Southeast Finland Border Guard District at the Vaalimaa border station.
"Cooperation between our countries is close and long-term. Bilateral cooperation particularly develops military interoperability. It strengthens regional security and supports the alliance's ability to respond to the changed security environment in Northern Europe," noted Lieutenant General Nisula.
