Representatives of the Finnish and Swedish armed forces will hold their military cooperation, "FISE", meeting in Helsinki 19-20 September. The themes of the meeting are the monitoring and deepening of bilateral cooperation.

This military cooperation is based on an action plan for deepened defence cooperation between Sweden and Finland signed in May 2014. The cooperation between the two countries is aimed to be both short-term and long-term. A joint military report for deepening military cooperation between Finland and Sweden was published in January 2015.

In May 2015, the Swedish and Finnish ministries of defence signed a joint statement to deepen defence cooperation between the two countries. The statement emphasises the political will of the two countries to further their cooperation. This cooperation has the approval of both the Swedish and Finnish Governments.

The aim of this bilateral military cooperation is to develop interoperability and cost-efficient capabilities. The aim of the meeting is to monitor and steer this military cooperation. The meeting will be attended by the high command of both countries.
