Press release

The day begins with the ceremonial raising of the flag by the Finnish Navy at Eteläsatama South Harbour at 0800 hours. Finnish Navy combat and support vessels as well as the Finnish Border Guard offshore patrol vessel Turva welcome visitors at Eteläsatama South Harbour from 0900 until 1500 hours. Finnish Navy equipment will be on display as well.

The Finnish Navy vessels docked include a mine layer Hämeenmaa class, fast attack missile craft Hamina and Rauma class, mine hunter coastal Katanpää class, mine layer Pansio class, and multi-purpose vessel Louhi.

Every day of the year combat vessels operate at sea conducting readiness missions to safeguard Finland’s territorial integrity. The multi-purpose vessel sustains overall readiness as well as preparedness for providing executive assistance. The crews of these vessels include also conscripts.

Finnish Border Guard’s offshore patrol vessel Turva arrives at Eteläsatama South Harbour at approximately 0830 hours and receives Air Patrol Squadron’s sea rescue helicopter Super Puma. Both Turva, which guards the borders in territorial waters, and Super Puma welcome visitors by Pier K6 in Katajanokka (next to SkyWheel Helsinki).

Welcome to take a closer look!
