The Finnish Defence Forces' Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Major General Rami Saari, will host a meeting of chiefs of personnel from the Nordic countries' defence forces in Tuusula on 23–24 August.

The Nordic Defence Forces' chiefs of personnel meet annually and this year Finland is responsible for hosting. During the meeting topical issues common to the Nordic countries will be discussed, such as personnel planning as a member of NATO and support for Ukraine.

The Finnish Defence Forces' Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Major General Rami Saari is looking forward to sharing best practices and experiences with Nordic colleagues.

– The changed operating environment underlines the need to review the structures of Nordic co-operation in the field of personnel and to intensify co-operation. I look forward to our meeting, informative discussions on future guidelines in the field of human resources and the exchange of best practices and experiences. Especially those who have been NATO members longer than us can gain valuable experience and insights that we can use in our own operations.

Nordic defence co-operation (NORDEFCO) is based on continuous contacts and regular meetings between the countries. The identified cooperation opportunities are prepared at military level in five different areas of cooperation, of which the personnel sector is one.

The aim of the NORDEFCO co-operation is to achieve interoperability that enables close cooperation between the Nordic Armed Forces in training, exercises, defence materiel procurement and crisis management operations.
