Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces on an official visit to Japan

Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, will visit Japan 27–29.9.2022. General Koji Yamazaki, Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, is hosting the visit. Originally the visit was scheduled to take place in 2020, but due to the corona pandemic, the date has had to be postponed.

During his visit, General Kivinen will get acquainted with the activities of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, visit bases, hold talks with General Yamazaki and other representatives of the Japanese Defense Administration. The official visit is also accompanied by wreath laying and inspection of the honor guard at the Ichigaya base, Tokyo.

The discussions will focus, among other things, on: defence cooperation between Finland and Japan, and Russia's recent activities.
