The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, attends the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) meeting of defence chiefs from 25 to 26 August 2021 in London.

The British-led JEF is the framework for multilateral defence cooperation between the Netherlands, Iceland, the UK, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Estonia. Finland joined in the summer of 2017. The aim of the cooperation is, inter alia, to develop and maintain the military capabilities of the participating countries. If necessary, countries can also act together in crisis situations.

A meeting of JEF defence ministers was held in Helsinki from 30 June to 1 July 2021. A political guidance document governing military action was signed. Chiefs of Defence meet regularly.

In addition to the Commander of the Armed Forces, Finland's Military Attaché in the UK, Commander Mika Raunu and Aide-de-Camp to Chief of Defence Major Annukka Ylivaara will attend the meeting.
