Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces on a working visit to Norway

The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, will participate in the meeting of Nordic Chiefs of Defence in Norway, 28 - 30 March 2022.

The Nordic Chiefs of Defence meet to discuss defence cooperation between the Nordic countries and the security situation in the region. This is a regular meeting hosted by General Eirik Kristoffersen, Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces. In 2022, Norway holds the presidency of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO).

In addition to the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategy, Lieutenant General Kim Jäämeri, the Aide-the-Camp to the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Annukka Ylivaara and Sergeant First Class Anu Käär will participate from the Finnish Defence Forces.

The meeting is accompanied by a visit to the Cold Response 2022 exercise, organized by the Norwegian Armed Forces, which involves a total of about 30,000 soldiers from different countries. About 680 people from Finland are taking part in the exercise, mainly from the Kainuu Brigade, the Jaeger Brigade and the Pori Brigade. Participation in the exercise develops national defence capabilities, bilateral cooperation with Norway and defence cooperation with Sweden.
