Commander of the Defence Forces visited Poland

Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola visited Poland on 22-23 January 2023. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła.

General Jaakkola visited the Polish special forces and the Cyber Command and gave a speech at War Studies University (Akademia Sztuki Wojennej) in Warsaw.  The speech was titled ”Military Strategic perspectives in the New Era”. 

The visit included discussions about the present security situation and development of the armed forces. General Jaakkola emphasized the role of information exchange in the current security situation:

-    I would like to thank General Kukuła for a fruitful meeting and discussions.   It is very important for allies to meet and exchange ideas about the current as well as long-term security issues. Our countries have a lot in common, our investment in defence for example. We also discussed the Finnish model of enhancing preparedness and readiness, which helps us ensure that authorities are able to respond quickly, among other things.
