Chemical weapons ban organisation conducts an inspection in Finland

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will conduct a routine inspection at the Finnish Defence Research Agency on 14-17 February 2022.

The purpose of the inspection is to establish that the information provided by Finland in the information exchange notification is correct.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is an organization that works with the United Nations to monitor compliance with the Chemical Weapons Prohibition Convention (CWC) signed in 1993. The organisation was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013. The organisation's headquarters are located in The Hague. It comprises 185 countries representing a total of 98 percent of the world's population. During its operations, the organisation has conducted a total of more than 3,500 inspection visits to factories and weapons warehouses.
