16.7.2025 | The Defence Forces has revised the psychological test used in the selection of conscript leaders, the so-called P2 test, to better meet the requirements of a conscript leader’s tasks today and to match the more comprehensive understanding of leadership. The new aptitude test is a better tool for collecting information about conscripts’ leader potential and suitability for different tasks and duties. The new test was used for the first time with the conscripts starting their service in July 2025.

8.11.2021 | The piloting of shared accommodation will continue in the Defence Forces until the end of 2022. As of early 2022, the piloting will include all brigade-level units providing training to persons liable for military service excluding the FAF air commands. The objective is to get information on the effectiveness of shared accommodation in brigade-level units of varying strength across Finland.

8.3.2024 | In war and crisis situations, the Finnish Defence Forces needs an ability to dispose of explosives at the bottom of the sea and on the ground. Hiring high-quality professional units on a permanent basis would, however, take up a big slice out of the defence budget.
