Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces in Lebanon

The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg, inspected the Finnish Crisis Management Contingent in Lebanon on 12-14 June 2018.

During his inspection visit, General Lindberg met military leadership of the UNIFIL operation and the Lebanese Armed Forces. The general security situation in Lebanon and the Finnish participation in the operation emerged as particular topics of conversation.

During the visit, General Lindberg visited, for example, the UNIFIL operation headquarters in Naqoura and met its military command. Moreover, General Lindberg visited the Irish-Finnish Battalion which is under Irish command and the Force Commander’s Reserve under French command. The Finnish Infantry Company is part of the latter.

During his inspection visit, the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces obtained a clear situation picture of the participation and operations of the Finnish contingent as part of the multinational operation.

The Commander of the Defence Forces was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Kai Kaltiainen and Major Antti Rajahalme, the General’s Aide de Camp.
