The Commander of the French Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard, will visit Finland on 19–20 April.
The visit will be hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen. General Burkhard will also meet President of the republic Sauli Niinistö and Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen.
The topics discussed during the visit include the progress of military integration of Finland's NATO membership, bilateral defence cooperation between Finland and France, and the security situation in Europe.
The visit programme also includes acquaintance with the activities of the Guard Jaeger Regiment and the National Defence University in Santahamina garrison, Helsinki, as well as a visit to the Border Guard headquarters.
