French Navy’s Vessel Visits Turku

FS Sagittaire at sea

Finland will receive a French Ally for a scheduled port visit. The French Navy’s minehunter FS Sagittaire will moor at port of Turku from October 4-7, 2024. The ship will not be open to the public.

Éridan (Tripartite)-class minehunter FS Sagittaire is 51,6 meters long and 8,9 meters wide. She is specialized in mine countermeasures. FS Sagittaire can house a crew complement of 50. The ship was commissioned in 1996 and her homeport is in Brest.

The visit will strengthen the cooperation between the countries. During the visit, FS Sagittaire will exercise mine countermeasures with the Coastal Fleet. 

The visit will be hosted by the Commander of 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron of the Coastal Fleet, Commander Henri Kummala.
