Finnish and United States Air Forces to train together in August
The Finnish Air Force will train together with U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) in Astral Knight training event between 21 and 25 August.
The aim of the training event is to enhance the Finnish Air Force’s ability to offer and execute Host Nation Support (HNS) and to develop cooperation and interoperability with its allies. The air activities will take place in Northern Finland.
During the event, the USAFE aircraft will operate out of Rovaniemi Air Base. USAFE will participate in the event with F-16 fighter jets, a KC-135 tanker and C-130 transport aircraft. As for Finland, the training missions will be carried out with F/A-18 Hornet multirole fighters.
The training event may cause aircraft noise especially in Rovaniemi area. The event will be carried out mainly by cadre.
