African Integrated Crisis Management Course Ongoing At Rwanda Peace Academy in Musanze, Rwanda
Forty-nine military, police and civilian experts from eight nations are gathered for the African Integrated Crisis Management Course, 14 – 19 October 2018. Course is organized by the Finnish Defence Forces International Centre (FINCENT) within the framework of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) in Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in Musanze.
The course is part of the African Capacity Building Initiative in which the Nordic countries support the capacity building of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
Purpose of the course is to enhance the operational readiness of EASF and to enhance the knowledge and understanding of integrated crisis management approaches, as well as to enhance collaboration and coordination among the different actors, namely military, police and civilian crisis management, humanitarian and development aid actors.
General Charles Rudakubana of the EASF (center) declared the course open with Rwandan Peace Academy Director Colonel Jill Rutaremara, Course Director Major Aku Salmi of FINCENT and the representative from Nordic Advisory and Coordination Staff (NACS) Commander Steffan Sivaro.
Before the course was officially opened by the honorable General Charles RUDAKUBANA of the EASF, the FINCENT staff visited the Rwandan Genocide Memorial at the nation’s capital Kigali and paid their respects to the memory of men, women and children who lost their lives during the Rwandan genocide.
