Guard’s Parade and MIL Espa concert: Navy Band

Welcome to attend a public event with the longest heritage in Finland! In summer 2022, the Helsinki Garrison will again arrange the Guard’s Parades as before.

The Guard’s Parades of the current type began to be held in the mid-2000s but their history extends way back to the 1750s. As of 1919, the Guard’s Parades and the accompanying concerts in the park continue a tradition that has witnessed only a few discontinuations to date.

In summer 2022, the Guard’s Parades will always start the marching movement at the Senate Square at 12:30 to advance via the Kauppatori Square to the Main Guard to return along the Esplanade to the closing formation at the Kasarmitori Square.

Following the Guard’s Parade from 14:00 onwards, the Navy Band’s MIL Espa concert will feature music by the cherished Finnish composer and song writer Junnu Vainio. Most of the songs by this son of the maritime town of Kotka continue to live with us all, and it’s safe to say that many of the tunes and lyrics by him are already engrained onto the Finnish soul. The soloists for this musical journey to be taken will be Juha Ketola ja Pekka Laurikka.
The concert’s duration will be circa 45 minutes.

The event has free admission.
