The concert will play musical stories about the North. The programme includes Nordic brass band music from traditional march music to modern art music, from centuries old to present day music. The audience is taken from a festive national day parade to a hospital bed, from tranquil and playful moments to the most excruciating pain. The concert will celebrate King Carl Gustav’s victorious military campaign, travel on land and at sea with a playful Peer Gynt, make the audience share the creative pain of artists throughout centuries and admire the virtuosic skills of 21st century Nordic brass band music.
Norwegian euphonium artist Tormor Flaten will perform as the concert’s soloist. He will play Jukka Linkola’s Euphonium Concerto. The concert will be conducted by the Finnish conductor Tanja Carita Ikonen who lives in Norway.
