General Lindberg to travel to Belgium

The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg, will take part in the meeting of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) to be arranged in Brussels on 6-7 November. The meeting will be attended by the military leadership of member states of the European Union.

The committee convenes twice a year to discuss, among other things, EU-led crisis management operations, the union's security strategy and comprehensive security as well as the development of European security from a military point of view.

 

During his visit, General Lindberg will meet among others Finland's EU representative in the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS), Ambassador Sofie From-Emmesberg, and Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Mikhail Kostarakos. The Commander will also meet and discuss current affairs with staff working at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union.

 

In addition to experts from the Permanent Representation of Finland, Finland's Military Representative to the EU and NATO, Rear Admiral Juha Vauhkonen, who is stationed in Brussels, and ADC to the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, Captain (N) Jukka Anteroinen will also participate in meetings and appointments.
