A National Memorial to the Winter War will be unveiled on the Kasarmitori Square in Helsinki on 30 November 2017.

The Winter War began on 30 November 1939. The Memorial will be unveiled on the anniversary of the day of commencement of the war. The work is part of the Suomi100 celebrations, which commemorate Finland’s 100 years of independence.

The Winter War is a significant event in the history of independent Finland. With this monument, Finland honours the valuable work carried out by the veterans and all those who fought and worked for the good of the fatherland.

The unveiling ceremony is open to the public.

The Defence Forces contributed to the work of the Winter War Memorial Committee.
